Oya
Storm Goddess and Guardian of the Crossroads
Oya commands the storms and protects the sacred boundary between the living and the dead. When the final prayers of her murdered followers fail to reach her, she must discover who has found a way to interfere with divine power and why they are willing to challenge a goddess.
Tanika
Priestess of Oya
Tanika is spiritually attuned to the thin places between worlds and devoted to helping Oya maintain the balance of the Crossroads. Her gifts make her invaluable but they also place her directly in the path of an enemy searching for a doorway into Oya’s realm.

Oya is a powerful Yoruba Orisha associated with storms, wind, lightning, transformation, death, and the passage between worlds.
Her storms represent more than destruction. They clear away what can no longer remain, creating space for change, renewal, and rebirth.
Within Alicia McCalla’s fictional Sentinel Superhero Vigilante Universe, Oya is a divine protector of Metronix City and guardian of the Crossroads. When supernatural danger begins moving into the mortal world, she must decide whether protection from a distance is still enough.

Its included origin story, Chosen by Storm, follows a grieving Tia Jackson before she becomes The Sentinel. Angry at the justice system, the world, and the goddess she believes failed her family, Tia confronts Oya during a storm.
